Dark Matter Coffee comes from Humboldt beginnings. We started our journey in 2007 on Chicago’s West side at Star Lounge Coffee Bar, and the directive was simple: to make people happy.  Our objective is to be transcendent between the worlds of science and creativity while simultaneously traversing a culinary vision quest as our guide. A powerful sense of community has created a deep well of organic, hyper-inspirational partnerships and friendships. Naturally, an abundance of moments and ideas helped shape the future by questioning industry standards and pushing back on the safe and conventional blueprint. Our producing partners in El Salvador and Guatemala share over a decade-long relationship with DMC, providing an intimate view of life with them and the people who operate the farms and mills. We’ve followed some of the coffee lots we buy from seed to maturity. The team who roasts, packages and extracts the coffee you drink also shares these close experiences. Knowledge inspires care – context is everything. We are on a cosmic ride with no destination in mind.
